Welcome to Green Turtle’s 2025 Festival of Lights!

Updated: 3 hours ago

At the crest of the hilltop leading towards New Plymouth, your eyes are drawn to the lighted garland wrapped arches topped with red velvet bows.  Traveling down the lane you’ll find street lights festooned with whimsical decorations, along with Santas, Elves and Christmas characters greeting you on street corners.

Fanny McIntosh has been the Green Turtle Cay “lighting director” since 2012 after creators, Jim and Marilyn Saunders, passed on the torch. Fanny is the backbone, the dreamer, the cheerleader gathering the donors and worker elves to create this magical vision!  She has been keeping the community decorated with lights and decorations after total loss from Dorian.

The team of helpers varies from season to season.  Fannie’s core team are Donnie Adderley, Lisa Albury, Carolina Cash, Josephine Curry, Cy McIntosh, Denise McIntosh, Patricia McIntosh, Roddie Sawyer, Vonnie Weiting.  This team gathers to “dress” the ornaments, make bows, hang, electrify and repair during the month of November.

Each year Fanny’s team grows with the aid of visiting GTC visitors  jumping in to help.  Garry, “Boots Man”, is the Canadian helper who single handedly on occasions takes down the decorations to store for the following year.

You, too, can play your part in supporting the GTC Festival of Light.

COME to their November 22nd major fundraising dinner at the basketball court.  Chicken, ribs and chops along with peas & rice and mac & cheese will be served for $18.00 per serving.
